Mbiu - SAYFSM's Newsletter

Mbiu is a Swahili word that means "the call." It refers to the summoning of African communities, calling them to gather at a meeting place for an important announcement.

Fall 2011 News

The women from the quilting class are now producing saleable items and designing their own quilts and bags, etc.  They had an opportunity to show their items for the first time at the Women of the ELCA Minneapolis Area Synod Gathering at Nativity Lutheran Church in September.  They were very excited about the opportunity to show what they have accomplished.  The WELCA Board was happy to have the women at the Gathering, as a portion of the 2010 offering supported SAYFSM’s Women’s Self-Sufficiency Program.  This was an excellent opportunity for the women to show their quilted items and sell them at a public event.

November 16, 2011 was Give to the Max Day.
Thank you everyone who sent in donations.  We are grateful for past donors continued support.  A special thank you also goes to those of you who donated to us for the first time.  Thanks all!
